July 2015 Member of the Month – Julie Brierley
What is your favorite class time?
I’m a big fan of the 5:30pm class. I like being able to go right from work to letting of some steam at the gym.
What is your favorite Crossfit movement?
My favorite Crossfit movement would have to be handstand pushups. The movement makes me feel strong and I’m always down for doing any of the gymnastic movements.
What did you think of your first Crossfit experience?
I really enjoyed my first Crossfit experience. I felt like my gym workouts by myself were really boring and getting me zero progress physically. After that first Crossfit workout I felt great! I finally found a class that would kick my butt back into shape.
What do you feel is your biggest Crossfit accomplishment?
I would have to say my greatest accomplishment was sticking to the Whole 30 Diet for a month. I didn’t really want to give up my pasta, wine, cheese and all those tasty foods that we all like to eat but by the end of the month I felt stronger, healthier, and all around a happier person
What advice would you offer to someone just finishing Elements or thinking about trying Crossfit?
Stick with it!!! Yes it is hard at first but you will see progress. I was at Level 1 for about the first 3 months and then I finally started to become strong enough to move to Level 2 weights. Now that I have been doing Crossfit for a year, I’m doing RX movements and lifting weights I never thought I would ever be able to do!
What do you do when not at CrossFit?
When I’m not getting my sweat on at Crossfit, I enjoy hiking, biking, and camping during the warm months, skiing in the winter, and having a glass of wine or two with my friends.
